The 'Gillo Dorfles. A Life Of The Times' exhibition at the MACRO centre in Rome celebrates the life and works of Gillo Dorfles; a prominent Italian art critic, painter and philosopher, who is often referred to as the father of Italian visual culture. The exhibition in Rome is open from the 27th November 2015 until the 30th March 2016. It is the first exhibition of its kind that takes the visitor through an anthological tribute of his works, which cover the themes of artistic output, critical thinking and aesthetic theories. Dorfles was born in Trieste, Italy in 1910 and he started his artistic début during the 1930s. There are over 100 items on show and although Gillo is now a centenarian, he is still producing art and this exhibition includes three new paintings produced in the summer of 2015.
