Dates: 22.09.17 - 21.01.18. Address: Scuderie del Quirinale, Via Ventiquattro Maggio 16, 00186 Rome, Italy.
The Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome is hosting its newest exhibition that is dedicated to the great Pablo Picasso. This exhibition concludes the events that began at the beginning of the year showcasing one of Spain’s most successful artists. Entitled ‘PICASSO Between Cubism and Classicism: 1915-1925’, the exhibition takes place from the 22nd September 2017 to the 21st January 2018 and features 100 masterpieces and documents selected by curator Olivier Berggruen, in collaboration with Anunciata von Liechtenstein. It also retraces Picasso’s first visit to Italy, 100 years ago, in 1917, when he visited Rome and Naples following Sergei Diaghilev's company Ballets Russes with poet Jean Cocteau and musician Igor Stravinsky. This was the trip during which Picasso met and fell in love with Olga Khokhlova, the first dancer in the company and his first wife. The exhibition is in collaboration with several world famous museums, including the Pompidou Centre in Paris, Guggenheim in New York, Picasso Museum in Barcelona and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
